Fashion designer Phuong Ho launched the longest ao dai (Vietnam's longest dress) with a length of 178m, weighing nearly 200kg with a goal of setting a Guinness Vietnam record.
Within the framework of the Hung Temple Festival and the Ancestral Land Culture and Tourism Week 2023, taking place from April 20 to 29, the People's Committee of Viet Tri City (Phu Tho province) and Phuonglly Media jointly organized the presentation of the event: the fashion show, to set 3 Guinness Vietnam records.
Three records include the longest Ao Dai in Vietnam with a length of 178m; The longest performance road in Vietnam with more than 500m at the Golden Bridge (Phu Tho) and the number of people wearing Ao Dai attending the most significant cultural and art event in Vietnam is nearly 4,000 people.
Designer Phuong Ho said that the Ao Dai has a length of 178m (equal to the length of the Golden Bridge during fashion shows - PV), weighs nearly 200kg, and was made for nearly 2 months. The dress consists of the upper part and the lower part with 30 pieces assembled.
Each piece of fabric is painted, hand-embroidered, studded with stones, crystals, etc., creating motifs of culture, history, and landscapes of Vietnam. Interspersed is a lotus image made of brocade fabric, beautifully arranged in 3D.
The making of this Ao Dai is a big challenge for Phuong Ho and the crew.
Transporting the dress from Ho Chi Minh City to Phu Tho is not easy, it has to be detached into pieces to be able to be transported by air.
When we got there, we had to rent a sewing machine, and a staff member to assemble and iron.
6 healthy young people transporting Ao Dai to the Golden Bridge to perform also encountered many difficulties "- Phuong Ho shared.
