Celebrate Tet with Delicious Food! 🍚🥢🎉

Tet, the Vietnamese Lunar New Year, is not just a celebration of a new beginning—it’s also a time to gather with loved ones and indulge in the rich, diverse flavors of traditional Vietnamese cuisine. 🍲✨ Each dish served during Tet holds cultural and symbolic significance, adding an extra layer of meaning to this joyous occasion.

One of the must-have dishes is Banh Chung or Banh Tet, the iconic square or cylindrical sticky rice cakes filled with mung beans and pork. Wrapped in green banana leaves, these cakes symbolize the Earth and the importance of gratitude to ancestors. 🌎🍃 Cutting into a perfectly steamed Banh Chung is an act of love shared with family and friends.

Another favorite is Pickled Onions (Dua Hanh), a tangy and crunchy side dish that helps balance the richness of the other foods on the table. 🧅✨ Its refreshing taste adds a zesty kick that perfectly complements the main dishes.

Of course, no Tet feast would be complete without Boiled Chicken. This simple yet symbolic dish is often served whole, representing prosperity and well-being for the year ahead. 🐔💛 Often paired with a delicious dipping sauce made of lime juice, pepper, and salt, boiled chicken is a family favorite.

And let’s not forget the abundance of snacks and treats! 🍬🥜 From Mut Tet (candied fruits and nuts) to sunflower seeds, there’s always something to munch on while catching up with relatives or watching Tet TV specials.

The Colors Of Hoi An

A Kaleidoscope with a Side of Laughter 🎨✨

If you’ve ever dreamed of walking through a postcard, Hội An, Vietnam, is your destination. This charming, UNESCO-certified town is a riot of colors—literally, because sometimes you wonder if they held a color-blindness test and everyone failed gloriously. But that’s part of its magic. Let’s dive into Hội An's technicolor Dreamcoat with a sprinkle of humor and a splash of emojis! 🌟

Golden Glow: Hội An’s Favorite Filter 🌅💛

Hội An didn’t just wake up yellow one day—it committed to it. The mustard-yellow walls dominate the Old Town, giving it an eternal golden-hour vibe. Legend has it this shade of yellow symbolizes luck and prosperity. But honestly, it looks like someone told the entire town to dress up as an Oscar trophy 🏆.

Every Instagrammer worth their selfie stick 📸 has posed against those walls, captioning it with something cheesy like, “Golden hour, all day every day!” Meanwhile, the locals roll their eyes because the color’s also practical—it reflects heat 🌞 and hides dirt 🧽. That’s right: Hội An, where aesthetics and cleaning hacks collide.

Lanterns: Hội An’s Answer to Disco Balls 🎊🎏

At night, Hội An transforms into a lantern-filled wonderland 🌌. These aren’t your average paper lanterns; they come in every color of the rainbow 🌈—and some colors science hasn’t even named yet. Walking through Hội An’s lantern-lit streets feels like stepping into a fairytale ✨ or accidentally wandering into a rave 🕺.

Pro tip: Don’t try to count the lanterns. You’ll lose track at 73 and get distracted by a lady trying to sell you a paper boat 🚤 to float down the river. Bonus: She’ll probably throw in a free guilt trip if you refuse 😅.

Blue Boats and Green Rivers: The Natural Palette 🌊🌳

The Thu Bồn River running through Hội An has its own style. The water isn’t crystal clear; it’s a murky green that feels like it’s holding secrets—or possibly a motorbike someone drunkenly drove into it during Tết celebrations 🛵💦.

Docked along the river, the wooden blue boats add a splash of serene color 💙, making the area look like a Bob Ross painting with “happy little accidents” 🎨. Just don’t lean too far while taking a selfie 🤳, or you’ll get to experience the river’s green charm up close 🐟.

Bougainvillea: Hội An’s Fashion Statement 🌺💖

What’s yellow, green, and pink all over? Hội An, thanks to the bougainvillea plants cascading from balconies like floral waterfalls 🌸. These flowers are beautiful, sure, but they’re also the overachievers of the plant world, growing wherever they please 🌿. You’ll spend 20 minutes trying to get the perfect shot and then realize a random cat 🐈 photobombed you.

Speaking of cats, Hội An’s strays are practically part of the décor. They lounge on rooftops and in doorways, judging tourists like they’re the unpaid town supervisors 👀.

Food: A Colorful Carnival for Your Plate 🍜🍹

The colors of Hội An extend to its food. Cao lầu noodles boast earthy browns 🍂, bánh mì is filled with vibrant greens 🥬 and reds 🌶️, and let’s not forget chè, the rainbow dessert soup that looks like a sugar explosion in a bowl 🍧.

Eating here is like experiencing Hội An’s palette on your palate (see what I did there? 😉). Just remember: If it’s a street food cart, it’s probably delicious—and if it’s lit by a single flickering bulb, it’s a Michelin star in disguise 🌟🍴.

Hoi An: Where Colorblindness Would Be a Shame 🖌️💫

From the golden walls to the neon lanterns 🎐, Hội An is proof that color can be a lifestyle. It’s like the town collectively decided to put all its chips on the "vibrancy" square of the roulette table 🎰, and boy, did it pay off.

So, pack your most colorful outfits 🎒👗 and head to Hội An. Just don’t forget: when in doubt, pose by a yellow wall 🟨. And if you spot a cat, wave 🐾. It’s their town—you’re just visiting.

Why May The Korean First Lady's Doctorate Be Repealed?

The Korean First Lady

UNIVERSITY CONSIDERS REVOKING FIRST LADY'S DOCTORATE DUE TO PLAGIARISM ALLEGATIONS 🥴

The National University of Korea has announced that it will review the revocation of First Lady Kim Keon Hee's doctorate if Sookmyung Women's University officially revokes her master's degree over plagiarism allegations.

According to The Korea Herald on May 15, the statement was made following Sookmyung Women's University's preliminary conclusion that Kim Keon Hee had plagiarized her master's thesis submitted to the university's graduate school.

An official from Kookmin University (also known as the National University of Korea) stated that the institution would consider whether Kim's doctorate remains valid. The revocation of her master's degree could directly affect the validity of her doctorate, as Kookmin University requires a valid master's degree or equivalent qualification for admission to its doctoral programs.

Did You Know? Santa Claus's plump, rosy-cheeked image was invented by Coca-Cola

Originally, Santa Claus was depicted as a tall and slender man wearing a bishop's robe or animal-skin attire, similar to a Nordic hunter. He was far from the chubby, red-and-white-clad figure now widely recognized as part of Coca-Cola's brand identity.

Today is Christmas, and the festive atmosphere is everywhere as people prepare to welcome the most memorable guest of the evening. Around the world, children are told the story of a jolly, rotund old man with a white beard, round glasses, and rosy cheeks.

This man rides a sleigh pulled by reindeer, parks it on the roof, slides down the chimney, and reads the wishes written in stockings before delivering gifts—on one condition: the children must behave and listen to their elders.

This character, of course, is Santa Claus.

The original Santa Claus was tall and slender, dressed in a bishop's robe or Nordic hunter-style animal skins.

However, many may not know that Santa Claus originated from the legend of Saint Nicholas, the patron saint of children in Christianity. In this original portrayal, he was a tall, thin man dressed in bishop’s robes or Nordic hunter-style attire.

Everything began to change in the 1930s, thanks to Coca-Cola.

The Coca-Cola Santa Claus

It was in 1931 that Coca-Cola, aiming to leverage Santa Claus’s image for its Christmas and New Year advertising campaigns, hired Haddon Sundblom, an American illustrator, to create a new, more approachable version of Santa that aligned with the Coca-Cola brand, especially appealing to children.

Sundblom reimagined Santa as a plump, rosy-cheeked, warm, and friendly figure dressed in a red-and-white outfit matching Coca-Cola’s brand colours. These first illustrations of Santa Claus appeared in American newspapers and magazines in 1931, including The Saturday Evening Post, Ladies' Home Journal, National Geographic, and The New Yorker.

Fun Fact:

For decades after, Coca-Cola consistently promoted their plump Santa, depicting him as a jolly, chubby man who would visit children, read their letters, and leave behind toys.

Afterwards, Santa would raid the fridge, grab a bottle of Coca-Cola as a token of thanks from the children, and drink it. This portrayal made Santa Claus the cheerful, round-bellied figure we know today.
