A kind of tourism has arisen in the Central Highlands of Vietnam where tourists live and work with farmers. An innocent look of a poor child

Ke, aged 9, is helping her parents pick up antimony-contained stones to break it up for this chemical element. She dropped out and has spent most of her time working day and night in the antimony area. Her parents just think of the present, how to make both ends meet without worrying about her dark future that is waiting on the horizon. This is a de facto situation in Vietnam's far remote areas.

Looking at her innocent face, she does not really know that risks are lurking in her job on a daily basis. Her future is attached to such a kind of manual work that leads her life to an impasse.

Hanging on a huge antimony discharging area, they risk their lives to find out this chemical element. Children of ethnic minority groups do not know the death grim reaper is waiting for them if they are careless. Due to the family in need, many parents let their children work in unsafe working condition to earn their living. Instead of working under a scorching sun, they have to go to school to broaden their knowledge, to develop their skills to be a mixed citizen in the society.

Tu. aged 10, is hammering stones to find out antimony, a chemical element contained in stones that are discharged from a company. Stones are usually big, hard that breaking them into small pieces is a hardship. She dropped out to help her family. This is a living of a child in Vietnam's rural area.

This is one of the distressing stories of minor ethnic children who are uneducated and accept manual jobs to earn their living. The law of labour prohibits this practice, however, there is always a gap in the locality.

Golden rice fields

This scene is very familiar in the northern Vietnam, home to the ethnic minority people who normally live on farming and husbandry. Their life is full of toil and moil but they only make both ends meet. Their children sometimes have to drop out to help their parents in rice fields to harvest rice crops. This is why many young people leave their home village to earn their living in a city full of hustle and bustle. 

A pitiful death of buffalo man in a criticized buffalo fight in Vietnam

The photo depicts a buffalo man was being gored by a buffalo. The story started from a festival of buffalo fights the locality organises under a motto preserving the traditional culture. In fact, these activities represent brutal violence that has been criticised for years. However, some places in the northern Vietnam still retain cruel fights to make a profit. They falsify this activity would attract the attention of tourists. Indeed, tourists stay away from inhuman games.

Back to the distressing story, a buffalo man was severely injured in the accident and was hospitalised. After a while, he passed away, the main breadwinner of a family.

According to Ms Phuong, Do Thi (his wife), sitting beside a bed where his corpse was laid, related in tears after having trained other people's buffaloes for years, he purchased and trained a buffalo to participate in a contest. He was very proud of that day as it was the first day his own buffalo he made a great effort to coach. But it is also his fatal day.
