Fishing net

beautiful

While a husband is steering a small boat, a wife is tossing a fishing net in the air. They leave very early their home to earning their living by fishing. Their life is "packed" with hardship but their income is too little. In addition, the pollution caused by industrial wasting threatens their daily livelihood. Especially in Vietnam, the government cannot solve this social issue to ensure the safety of food.

Fishing

Viet Nam

Fishing is full of toil and moil but a fisherman does not make both ends meet. Early in the morning, leaving their home without frugal breakfast, they sink their body into cold water in a twilight of sunrise till sunset. Their industry is threatened by the pollution of industrial wasting that has caused a sea of the maritime creature's death. Their financial burden weighs more on their shoulders: less income and increasing cost of living. Their children have to drop out to help them in fishing. Their gloomy future is ahead.

Community tourism in Vietnam

'Cởi trói' du lịch cộng đồng vì Tây Nguyên có thứ nơi khác không có

A kind of tourism has arisen in the Central Highlands of Vietnam where tourists live and work with farmers. A photo depicts a western tourist is watering strips of vegetables under a farmer's instruction and applause. It is an interesting experience a tourist learns about: working on a farm, enjoying local specialities

An innocent look of a poor child

Cheo leo mưu sinh trên bãi thải quặng

Ke, aged 9, is helping her parents pick up antimony-contained stones to break it up for this chemical element. She dropped out and has spent most of her time working day and night in the antimony area. Her parents just think of the present, how to make both ends meet without worrying about her dark future that is waiting on the horizon. This is a de facto situation in Vietnam's far remote areas.

Looking at her innocent face, she does not really know that risks are lurking in her job on a daily basis. Her future is attached to such a kind of manual work that leads her life to an impasse.

Junior miner's risky life

Cheo leo mưu sinh trên bãi thải quặng

Hanging on a huge antimony discharging area, they risk their lives to find out this chemical element. Children of ethnic minority groups do not know the death grim reaper is waiting for them if they are careless. Due to the family in need, many parents let their children work in unsafe working condition to earn their living. Instead of working under a scorching sun, they have to go to school to broaden their knowledge, to develop their skills to be a mixed citizen in the society.

Junior miner in Vietnam

Cheo leo mưu sinh trên bãi thải quặng

Tu. aged 10, is hammering stones to find out antimony, a chemical element contained in stones that are discharged from a company. Stones are usually big, hard that breaking them into small pieces is a hardship. She dropped out to help her family. This is a living of a child in Vietnam's rural area.

This is one of the distressing stories of minor ethnic children who are uneducated and accept manual jobs to earn their living. The law of labour prohibits this practice, however, there is always a gap in the locality.

Vietnam's traditional wear

Do Thi Huong Ly Photo by DK Manip

A long dress is a traditional wear. Vietnamese girls are clothing on formal occasions like the new year. It highlights the slenderness of young girl's graceful body. A picture of a Vietnamese girl in this traditional wear represents Vietnam you would see on most of the promotional materials.
An above photo depicts a young girl is looking rose buds that represent the new year. A freshness of a new year is ahead, giving a signal of good chances that are waiting for the youth in their work and life.

Golden rice fields

A golden rice field dotted with some colorfully-clothed girls carrying umbrellas on the path features a painting of a serene life in the country. It is a free moment for inhabitants to stay home doing some errands or go visit their friends. Three girls on a path leading a market do shopping and meet their boyfriends. The life in a rural area is full of toil and moil, however, they have some moments of relaxation.

The photo depicts daily life in rural areas in the northern Vietnam, a home to ethnic minority people who live on farming and husbandry. They lack basic facilities of education and health care. Many young people want to leave their home village to earn money in a modern city full of deceiving pitfalls that exploit their labor maximum.

In the middle of cascading green fields sits a small cottage where a farmer takes a rest after hard work hours or has a lunch at noon. This scene is very familiar in the northern Vietnam, home to the ethnic minority people who normally live on farming and husbandry. Their life is full of toil and moil but they only make both ends meet. Their children sometimes have to drop out to help their parents in rice fields to harvest rice crops. This is why many young people leave their home village to earn their living in a city full of hustle and bustle.

A pitiful death of buffalo man in a criticized buffalo fight in Vietnam

Chọi trâu: giữ hay bỏ?

The photo depicts a buffalo man was being gored by a buffalo. The story started from a festival of buffalo fights the locality organises under a motto preserving the traditional culture. In fact, these activities represent brutal violence that has been criticised for years. However, some places in the northern Vietnam still retain cruel fights to make a profit. They falsify this activity would attract the attention of tourists. Indeed, tourists stay away from inhuman games.

Back to the distressing story, a buffalo man was severely injured in the accident and was hospitalised. After a while, he passed away, the main breadwinner of a family.

According to Ms Phuong, Do Thi (his wife), sitting beside a bed where his corpse was laid, related in tears after having trained other people's buffaloes for years, he purchased and trained a buffalo to participate in a contest. He was very proud of that day as it was the first day his own buffalo he made a great effort to coach. But it is also his fatal day.
