Sunrise Under the Eyes of a Photographer

✨ The sunrise captured above—over hillsides ablaze with cherry blossoms—reminds us that photography has the power not only to document but also to inspire. By preserving such moments, Việt contributes to showcasing the unique charm of Vietnam to the world.

Sunrise Through the Lens of Photographer Bùi Xuân Việt

In this photo, the first light of dawn gently pierces through the distant mountains, casting a golden glow over the lush tea hills and vibrant cherry blossoms. The long morning shadows of several ethnic villagers walking along a narrow path add depth and tranquility to the scene. This breathtaking moment was captured by Bùi Xuân Việt, a photographer from Đồng Nai, who has spent years traveling across Vietnam in search of the country’s most enchanting sunrises.

Why Sunrise and Sunset?

For Việt, sunrise and sunset are the most magical moments in photography. During these times, light changes rapidly, creating strong contrasts between brightness and shadow, warm and cool tones. This interplay produces strikingly dramatic images that evoke powerful emotions in the viewer.

The photo above reflects this beautifully: the fiery red blossoms glow against the deep green tea rows, while the soft blue mist of the mountains lingers in the distance. Opposing colors, yet together they form a harmonious masterpiece of nature.

Stories Behind the Lens

Every picture Việt takes tells its own story. His work is not just about capturing natural scenery, but also about preserving the culture, humanity, and emotions of the places he visits.

He recalls, for example, his trip to Lao Chải village in Mù Cang Chải back in 2019. At the time, the village was still remote and underdeveloped. Yet, despite the modest living conditions, a local family warmly welcomed him into their home and treated him to a simple meal. Even when he insisted on offering money as a token of gratitude, they firmly refused with gentle smiles. Such heartfelt encounters, Việt says, are what give his photographs deeper meaning.

Photography as a Journey of Connection

For Bùi Xuân Việt, photography is more than the art of light and composition—it is a journey of connection between people and nature. A sunrise does not merely mark the start of a new day; it symbolizes renewal, hope, and the enduring rhythm of life.

Through his lens, Việt aims to share this message: that beauty lies not only in landscapes but also in the generosity and resilience of the people who inhabit them. His sunrise images are both a celebration of Vietnam’s natural wonders and a testament to the human warmth found in every corner of the country.

Hoi An - A Living Museum of Culture and History

Hoi An Ancient Town is one of the most beautiful cultural sites I’ve ever visited. Nestled along the central coast of Vietnam, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a remarkable blend of history, architecture, and tradition. Walking through its streets feels like stepping back in time, where every corner tells a story of cultural exchange, trade, and spirituality.

The photo above captures the charm of Hoi An perfectly: golden-hued walls, glowing lanterns hanging overhead, and narrow streets alive with local activity. The town is famous for its well-preserved architecture, much of which reflects the unique fusion of Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese influences. From old merchant houses and temples to French colonial buildings, every structure showcases Hoi An’s layered past as a bustling trading port from the 15th to 19th centuries.

Preserved Architectural Landmarks

What makes Hoi An truly special is its remarkable preservation of heritage buildings. The Japanese Covered Bridge, a symbol of the town, is an architectural masterpiece that has stood for centuries. The traditional tube houses, with their wooden beams and tiled roofs, line the streets in harmonious proportions, creating an authentic historical atmosphere. Unlike many cities where modernization has taken over, Hoi An has carefully protected its ancient identity while still welcoming travelers from around the world.

Religious and Cultural Influences

Hoi An is not just about aesthetics—it is also deeply rooted in spiritual and cultural traditions. Numerous pagodas, assembly halls, and temples throughout the town highlight the religious diversity that has flourished here. The Quan Cong Temple, for instance, embodies Chinese influences, while various shrines dedicated to ancestors showcase Vietnam’s devotion to family heritage. Walking through these sacred spaces, you can feel the blend of cultures that once passed through this international port.

A Town of Lanterns and Warm Hospitality

Perhaps the most enchanting part of Hoi An is its lantern-lit evenings. As night falls, colorful lanterns illuminate the streets, casting a soft, magical glow over the old town. Visitors often take part in lantern festivals, releasing floating lanterns into the river for good luck and happiness. Beyond the beauty, the warmth of the local people makes the experience even more memorable. Small cafés, family-run tailor shops, and street vendors create a welcoming atmosphere that embodies the heart of Vietnamese hospitality.

Final Thoughts

Hoi An Ancient Town is more than just a destination—it’s a journey into history, culture, and tradition. From its preserved architectural landmarks to its rich religious influences, Hoi An stands as a testament to Vietnam’s cultural heritage. For anyone seeking a place where the past and present coexist beautifully, Hoi An is truly a must-visit.

Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na Getting Married

The K-drama world is buzzing again, and this time it’s about two fan-favourite stars: Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na. Rumours of a possible wedding between the pair have resurfaced, sending fans into a frenzy. Known for their unforgettable chemistry in Goblin (2016) and later in Touch Your Heart (2019), many viewers have secretly wished their romance could move from the screen into real life. Now, thanks to new social media chatter and unconfirmed media reports, those hopes have been rekindled.

Why are people talking about it?

It all started with their on-screen love story in Goblin. Lee Dong-wook’s charismatic Grim Reaper and Yoo In-na’s bold and sassy Sunny stole hearts everywhere. Their storyline was so moving that many fans still consider it one of the most emotional romances in K-drama history.

When they reunited in Touch Your Heart a few years later, the rumours only grew stronger. The two looked entirely at ease with each other, both during filming and in interviews. While they never confirmed anything beyond friendship, their natural closeness kept fans guessing.

The latest spark in May 2025

Recently, netizens began circulating photos that supposedly showed the duo having a private dinner together. The pictures were blurry, but fans swore they looked very much like a couple. The mystery setting and their visible closeness quickly set social media on fire.

Not long after, a blind item on a popular K-entertainment forum hinted that a famous second-lead couple from a hit fantasy drama would be tying the knot by year’s end. Although no names were dropped, fans instantly connected the dots to Lee Dong-wook and Yoo In-na, thanks to their unforgettable Goblin pairing.

Then came the cherry on top: Dispatch Korea—famous for breaking celebrity dating stories—posted a cryptic tweet mentioning “a reaper and a chicken shop owner.” Fans didn’t need much time to recognise the playful nod to the beloved Goblin couple.

The Talented Actor Kwak Si Yang

Kwak Si Yang – The Talented Actor Korean Dramas Forgot

Although many Korean netizens praise Kwak Si Yang for his handsome looks and versatile acting, he has never landed a leading role in any drama. At 33, his turbulent career path has left many fans feeling a sense of regret for what could have been. With his masculine features, impressive height of 1.87 meters, and the fact that he completed his military service early, he seemed destined for greater stardom. Entertainment outlet Soompi has even described him as one of the most “unfortunately overlooked” actors in Korean television.

Now at 38, Kwak Si Yang still has no plans for marriage or starting a family of his own. In his latest project alongside veteran actress Jang Na Ra, he played only a supporting role — yet managed to send chills down viewers’ spines as a violent, abusive husband.

Speaking candidly about his personal life, the actor shared:

“I’m already 38 years old. I really want to get married soon, but the truth is, I have no money.”

When the host expressed surprise, he explained further:

“I paid off my family’s debts. I’m the youngest child, born late, and my parents are often ill. The hospital bills were much higher than I expected. So, even though I’ve wanted to get married early and show everyone a happy life, I simply can’t afford it.”

Despite the hardships, fans still believe Kwak Si Yang has the talent, charm, and depth to shine in more prominent roles — if only the right opportunity comes his way.

Hoi An: A Timeless Charm Like Nowhere in the World

Nestled along Vietnam’s central coast, Hoi An isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience. A place where time slows down, lanterns light the night sky, and the scent of street food mingles with ancient stories. While many cities boast beauty, Hoi An always has its own unique charm that no other place possesses.

A Living Museum of Cultures

What makes Hoi An so special? It begins with its rich cultural heritage. Once a bustling trading port between the 15th and 19th centuries, Hoi An welcomed traders from China, Japan, Portugal, and France, each leaving a distinct mark on the town’s architecture, cuisine, and lifestyle. The ancient town is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with preserved wooden houses, ornate temples, and moss-covered walls that tell tales of the past.

Walking through the narrow alleys of Hoi An feels like stepping into a different era. Unlike many modernised cities, the town has remained untouched by time, preserving the soul of its heritage while still embracing modern tourism.

Lantern-Lit Evenings

Every evening in Hoi An brings a bit of magic. As the sun dips below the Thu Bon River, thousands of colorful lanterns illuminate the town. During the monthly Full Moon Lantern Festival, locals and tourists gather to release floating candles into the water, making wishes as they drift away. It's a sight—and a feeling—that’s impossible to replicate elsewhere.

The vibrant hues, soft glows, and reflections on the river create a dreamlike atmosphere that no photo can fully capture. It’s something you have to experience for yourself.

A Culinary Paradise

Hoi An also shines as a haven for food lovers. The town is home to some of Vietnam’s most iconic dishes, many of which are unique to the region. Take a bite of Cao Lau, a savoury noodle dish found only in Hoi An, thanks to its special water sourced from ancient wells. Savour the crispy perfection of Banh Xeo, or delight in the simple freshness of white rose dumplings.

With every meal, you taste centuries of history, culture, and pride in local ingredients. Whether it’s a five-star restaurant or a humble food stall in the night market, Hoi An's cuisine is unforgettable.

Serene Countryside and Pristine Beaches

Just a short ride from the ancient town, you’ll find lush rice paddies, quiet riverside paths, and traditional villages where locals still make pottery or weave mats by hand. You can cycle through the countryside and witness a way of life that has hardly changed for generations.

And when you're ready to relax, An Bang Beach and Cua Dai Beach offer the perfect seaside escape. Clean, quiet, and serene, these beaches are some of Vietnam’s most beautiful—and remain blissfully uncrowded.

Warmth of the People

Perhaps the most unique beauty of Hoi An lies in its people. Hospitable, friendly, and deeply connected to their culture, the locals are always ready to share stories, offer a smile, or invite you in for tea. They embody the true heart of Vietnam, making visitors feel like more than just tourists—they feel like guests.

A Place That Stays With You

Whether you're exploring its ancient streets, dining by lantern light, or drifting along the river, Hoi An offers moments of quiet wonder. It doesn’t shout for attention; instead, it whispers its charm in a way that lingers long after you leave.

In a world where cities often blur together, Hoi An stands apart—calm yet vibrant, traditional yet welcoming, simple yet soul-stirring. It’s no exaggeration to say that Hoi An always has its own unique beauty that no other place has.

University Revokes Former First Lady’s Master's Degree Amid Scandal 🙄🙄🙄

On June 17, Sookmyung Women’s University in South Korea made headlines by announcing a major academic decision: the school had revised its academic regulations to proceed with revoking the master’s degree of former First Lady Kim Keon Hee, who received the degree back in 1999.

What’s Going On?

Until recently, the university’s policy only allowed for degree revocation if academic misconduct occurred after June 13, 2015, when the regulation took effect.

However, in an unprecedented move to address Kim Keon Hee’s case, the university has added a new clause: it now permits the revocation of degrees awarded before 2015 if the misconduct is deemed serious, clear, and a violation of academic ethics.

A Bold Move in South Korea’s Academic World

This action signals a strong stance by Sookmyung Women’s University against academic dishonesty, clearly stating that “no one is above the rules — not even a former First Lady.”

South Korea has witnessed multiple academic scandals over the years, with allegations of plagiarism and falsified credentials often involving high-profile figures. By amending its policy, Sookmyung University aims to protect the integrity and fairness of its academic standards.

Why Is This Controversial?

Kim Keon Hee, the wife of President Yoon Suk Yeol, has long faced accusations of academic fraud. However, prior policies had effectively shielded older cases like hers due to statute limitations and unclear regulatory frameworks.

By creating a new rule tailored to address past unethical behavior, the university is not only making a statement — it's setting a precedent that could influence how other institutions handle similar legacy cases.

Public Reaction: Applause and Skepticism

The Korean public has responded with mixed emotions. Many praised the move, calling it a necessary step toward academic transparency and justice. Others, however, questioned the timing and motive, wondering whether political influences played a role in targeting someone so closely linked to the current administration.

Still, educators and reform advocates agree that this could be a turning point in restoring trust in South Korea’s academic system.

Final Thoughts

Whether in the land of kimchi or anywhere else, academic integrity should not have expiration dates. Sookmyung Women’s University’s decision to change its rules and revisit past degrees sends a powerful message: honor in education matters — even decades later.

A diploma is more than just a certificate — it’s a symbol of trust, effort, and ethical standards. When that symbol is tainted, bold actions must follow.
