The Talented Actor Kwak Si Yang

Kwak Si Yang – The Talented Actor Korean Dramas Forgot

Although many Korean netizens praise Kwak Si Yang for his handsome looks and versatile acting, he has never landed a leading role in any drama. At 33, his turbulent career path has left many fans feeling a sense of regret for what could have been. With his masculine features, impressive height of 1.87 meters, and the fact that he completed his military service early, he seemed destined for greater stardom. Entertainment outlet Soompi has even described him as one of the most “unfortunately overlooked” actors in Korean television.

Now at 38, Kwak Si Yang still has no plans for marriage or starting a family of his own. In his latest project alongside veteran actress Jang Na Ra, he played only a supporting role — yet managed to send chills down viewers’ spines as a violent, abusive husband.

Speaking candidly about his personal life, the actor shared:

“I’m already 38 years old. I really want to get married soon, but the truth is, I have no money.”

When the host expressed surprise, he explained further:

“I paid off my family’s debts. I’m the youngest child, born late, and my parents are often ill. The hospital bills were much higher than I expected. So, even though I’ve wanted to get married early and show everyone a happy life, I simply can’t afford it.”

Despite the hardships, fans still believe Kwak Si Yang has the talent, charm, and depth to shine in more prominent roles — if only the right opportunity comes his way.

Hoi An: A Timeless Charm Like Nowhere in the World

Nestled along Vietnam’s central coast, Hoi An isn’t just a destination—it’s an experience. A place where time slows down, lanterns light the night sky, and the scent of street food mingles with ancient stories. While many cities boast beauty, Hoi An always has its own unique charm that no other place possesses.

A Living Museum of Cultures

What makes Hoi An so special? It begins with its rich cultural heritage. Once a bustling trading port between the 15th and 19th centuries, Hoi An welcomed traders from China, Japan, Portugal, and France, each leaving a distinct mark on the town’s architecture, cuisine, and lifestyle. The ancient town is now a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with preserved wooden houses, ornate temples, and moss-covered walls that tell tales of the past.

Walking through the narrow alleys of Hoi An feels like stepping into a different era. Unlike many modernised cities, the town has remained untouched by time, preserving the soul of its heritage while still embracing modern tourism.

Lantern-Lit Evenings

Every evening in Hoi An brings a bit of magic. As the sun dips below the Thu Bon River, thousands of colorful lanterns illuminate the town. During the monthly Full Moon Lantern Festival, locals and tourists gather to release floating candles into the water, making wishes as they drift away. It's a sight—and a feeling—that’s impossible to replicate elsewhere.

The vibrant hues, soft glows, and reflections on the river create a dreamlike atmosphere that no photo can fully capture. It’s something you have to experience for yourself.

A Culinary Paradise

Hoi An also shines as a haven for food lovers. The town is home to some of Vietnam’s most iconic dishes, many of which are unique to the region. Take a bite of Cao Lau, a savoury noodle dish found only in Hoi An, thanks to its special water sourced from ancient wells. Savour the crispy perfection of Banh Xeo, or delight in the simple freshness of white rose dumplings.

With every meal, you taste centuries of history, culture, and pride in local ingredients. Whether it’s a five-star restaurant or a humble food stall in the night market, Hoi An's cuisine is unforgettable.

Serene Countryside and Pristine Beaches

Just a short ride from the ancient town, you’ll find lush rice paddies, quiet riverside paths, and traditional villages where locals still make pottery or weave mats by hand. You can cycle through the countryside and witness a way of life that has hardly changed for generations.

And when you're ready to relax, An Bang Beach and Cua Dai Beach offer the perfect seaside escape. Clean, quiet, and serene, these beaches are some of Vietnam’s most beautiful—and remain blissfully uncrowded.

Warmth of the People

Perhaps the most unique beauty of Hoi An lies in its people. Hospitable, friendly, and deeply connected to their culture, the locals are always ready to share stories, offer a smile, or invite you in for tea. They embody the true heart of Vietnam, making visitors feel like more than just tourists—they feel like guests.

A Place That Stays With You

Whether you're exploring its ancient streets, dining by lantern light, or drifting along the river, Hoi An offers moments of quiet wonder. It doesn’t shout for attention; instead, it whispers its charm in a way that lingers long after you leave.

In a world where cities often blur together, Hoi An stands apart—calm yet vibrant, traditional yet welcoming, simple yet soul-stirring. It’s no exaggeration to say that Hoi An always has its own unique beauty that no other place has.

University Revokes Former First Lady’s Master's Degree Amid Scandal 🙄🙄🙄

On June 17, Sookmyung Women’s University in South Korea made headlines by announcing a major academic decision: the school had revised its academic regulations to proceed with revoking the master’s degree of former First Lady Kim Keon Hee, who received the degree back in 1999.

What’s Going On?

Until recently, the university’s policy only allowed for degree revocation if academic misconduct occurred after June 13, 2015, when the regulation took effect.

However, in an unprecedented move to address Kim Keon Hee’s case, the university has added a new clause: it now permits the revocation of degrees awarded before 2015 if the misconduct is deemed serious, clear, and a violation of academic ethics.

A Bold Move in South Korea’s Academic World

This action signals a strong stance by Sookmyung Women’s University against academic dishonesty, clearly stating that “no one is above the rules — not even a former First Lady.”

South Korea has witnessed multiple academic scandals over the years, with allegations of plagiarism and falsified credentials often involving high-profile figures. By amending its policy, Sookmyung University aims to protect the integrity and fairness of its academic standards.

Why Is This Controversial?

Kim Keon Hee, the wife of President Yoon Suk Yeol, has long faced accusations of academic fraud. However, prior policies had effectively shielded older cases like hers due to statute limitations and unclear regulatory frameworks.

By creating a new rule tailored to address past unethical behavior, the university is not only making a statement — it's setting a precedent that could influence how other institutions handle similar legacy cases.

Public Reaction: Applause and Skepticism

The Korean public has responded with mixed emotions. Many praised the move, calling it a necessary step toward academic transparency and justice. Others, however, questioned the timing and motive, wondering whether political influences played a role in targeting someone so closely linked to the current administration.

Still, educators and reform advocates agree that this could be a turning point in restoring trust in South Korea’s academic system.

Final Thoughts

Whether in the land of kimchi or anywhere else, academic integrity should not have expiration dates. Sookmyung Women’s University’s decision to change its rules and revisit past degrees sends a powerful message: honor in education matters — even decades later.

A diploma is more than just a certificate — it’s a symbol of trust, effort, and ethical standards. When that symbol is tainted, bold actions must follow.

The Culture and Psychology Behind Travel Photography 📸✨

Traveling has always been about exploration, discovery, and experience. But in today’s digital age, travel is also about capturing memories through photography. 🌍✈️ Tourists posing for photos have become integral to the travel experience, shaping how people document and share their journeys. But why do people need to strike a pose in front of landmarks, cultural sites, or scenic landscapes? This blog delves into the cultural and psychological reasons behind this global phenomenon. 🤳

The Evolution of Travel Photography

Before the advent of smartphones and social media, travel photography was primarily about capturing sights and landmarks. 🏛️🏔️ With the evolution of cameras and digital sharing platforms, there has been a shift from merely photographing locations to including oneself in the frame. This shift represents a transformation in how people perceive and document their travels, emphasizing personal experiences over passive observation.

The Psychology Behind Posing for Photos

1. Preserving Memories 🏞️📷One of the fundamental reasons tourists pose for photos is to create tangible memories. Studies suggest that taking pictures enhances recall, allowing individuals to revisit cherished moments long after the trip ends.

2. Identity and Self-Expression 🎭🌟
Tourist photography is also a form of self-expression. How people pose, what they wear, and their chosen locations reflect their personality, travel style, and aspirations.

3. Social Media Influence 📲💬
Platforms like Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok have revolutionized travel photography. People capture images not only for personal memories but also for sharing them with others. The desire for likes, comments, and engagement often influences how tourists pose and what destinations they visit.

4. Validation and Social Proof ✅📢
Posting travel photos online also serves as a form of validation. Seeing others engage with their content reinforces the idea that their experiences are worthwhile. It inspires others to visit the same places, creating a cycle of influence in travel trends.

Cultural Aspects of Travel Photography

1. Different Cultural Approaches to Posing 🌏🤩
Different cultures have unique approaches to posing for photos. Exaggerated expressions and creative poses are common in some cultures, while others prefer formal, composed shots. For example, in Japan, the “peace sign” ✌️ is a popular pose, while in Western cultures, candid, carefree shots have become trendy.

2. Respecting Local Customs 🏛️🚫
While taking photos is common, tourists must be mindful of cultural sensitivities. Specific religious or historical sites may restrict photography, and some local communities may feel uncomfortable being photographed. Understanding and respecting these nuances ensures that travel photography remains ethical and respectful.

The Rise of Destination-Based Trends 🌟📍

Social media has made Some places famous, drawing tourists specifically for photography. Destinations like Santorini 🇬🇷, Bali’s swing 🇮🇩, or the Lempuyang Temple (also known as the “Gates of Heaven”) see thousands of tourists daily posing for the perfect shot. This phenomenon raises questions about sustainable tourism and the impact of overtourism on local communities.

Final Thought 🎯📖

Tourists posing for photos is more than just a trend—it reflects how people connect with places, express themselves, and share their experiences with the world. While photography enhances travel memories, balancing it with mindful and respectful exploration is essential. Whether capturing a perfect sunset 🌅 or posing in front of the Eiffel Tower 🗼, the key is to enjoy the journey, not just the photograph.
