Tam Chuc Pagoda

Tam Chuc Pagoda is undergoing under an urgent construction to prepare for United Nation Day of Vesak 2019, which will be taking place from May 12 to 15, 2019. An international conference centre, 31 meters high, is constructed on a turquoise lake. Covering an area of around 2000 square meters, the centre has the capacity of over 2,600 visitors. The Tam Chuc complex consists of 1,000 hectares of lakes and 3,000 hectares of mountains and natural forests.

Workers are putting finishing touches on a giant mural which will be seen in front of Tam The Shrine. Three giant bronze statues sit in the centre of Tam The Shrine. Murals are carved in volcanic rocks by Indonesian artisans to depict the legends of Buddha.

This year, the event will welcome 20,000 Vietnamese delegates and 1,650 international delegates coming from 112 countries and territories all over the world. International attendants would be professors, researchers, scholars as well as leaders of Buddhist organizations. At the opening ceremony will be partaking the President of Myanma, the Prime Minister of Nepal, the Deputy Secretary General of United Nations and ministers and high-ranking officers of other countries.

Vesak is a very meaningful event in the Buddhist calendar, which celebrates three important turning points of Buddha Siddhartha Gautama. This activity falls on the full moon day of May.
