Hon Yen

For many years, Hon Yen has been attracting many young travellers with its pristine beauty and carpet of coral reefs rising up during low tide. The small islet is an interesting islet for professional photographers to make their impressive collections. It is around 15kilometers to the North of Tuy Hoa, the capital of Phu Yen. It is home to thousands of canaries, explaining its name.

Hon Yen nestles in Phu Yen Province, a poverty-hit coastal region with the population of around 860,000 inhabitants. Early in the morning, most of local residents head out to sea and catch seafood. Their boat is a means of livelihood and sea brings them a life.

If you visit Hon Yen in every June, you witness fishermen who migrate Phu Yen from across the country sail to sea for a busiest anchovy harvesting season.
