Discovering Coffee Culture in Hoi An

A Journey Through Flavor and Tradition

Hoi An, Vietnam, is famous not only for its ancient streets and lantern-lit evenings but also for a coffee culture that reflects both tradition and innovation. From classic Vietnamese brews to creative new twists, coffee in Hoi An is an experience all its own. Here’s what makes coffee here so special and where you can find the best spots to enjoy a perfect cup!

The Charm of Vietnamese Coffee

Vietnamese coffee is renowned for its unique, robust flavor—often brewed using a small metal drip filter, known as a "phin." This method creates a rich, intense coffee that pairs beautifully with sweetened condensed milk. The result is "cร  phรช sแปฏa ฤ‘รก," or Vietnamese iced coffee, which is both refreshing and energizing, especially on a warm Hoi An day.

In Hoi An, traditional Vietnamese coffee shops preserve this time-honored brewing technique, providing an authentic taste of the country’s coffee heritage. Sip a cup while overlooking the Thu Bon River or within the charming ambience of Hoi An’s old town, and you’ll feel like you’ve stepped back in time.

Unique Hoi An Coffee Experiences

In addition to classic brews, Hoi An is also home to coffee variations that reflect the creativity of local baristas and cafรฉ owners. Here are a few must-try coffee experiences:

  1. Egg Coffee: Originating from Hanoi, egg coffee is made by whipping egg yolks with sugar and condensed milk to create a creamy foam. This rich, custard-like topping is then layered over strong Vietnamese coffee, resulting in a dessert-like drink that is popular in several Hoi An cafรฉs.

  2. Coconut Coffee: A favorite for those who crave something tropical, coconut coffee combines Vietnamese coffee with a coconut milk base, often served cold with ice. This creamy, nutty twist is perfect for the hot climate.

  3. Herbal and Spiced Coffees: Some cafes in Hoi An experiment with local herbs and spices, infusing coffee with flavors such as lemongrass, cinnamon, or even ginger. These ingredients add a delightful layer of warmth and complexity, perfect for trying something out of the ordinary.

Top Cafรฉs to Explore in Hoi An

  1. Reaching Out Tea House – Located in the heart of the old town, Reaching Out offers not only excellent coffee but also a serene, quiet environment. This social enterprise employs hearing-impaired staff, so visitors order via charming handwritten notes—a unique and meaningful experience.

  2. Faifo Coffee – Known for its rooftop views, Faifo Coffee gives you a bird’s-eye perspective of Hoi An’s mustard-yellow shophouses. With its blend of local and international brews, it’s an ideal spot for both coffee lovers and photographers.

  3. Hoi An Roastery – With several locations around town, Hoi An Roastery serves freshly roasted coffee from Vietnamese beans, emphasizing sustainable sourcing and brewing expertise. This chain is a great choice for anyone who wants a cosy spot to relax and sample various coffee styles.

  4. The Espresso Station – Tucked away from the main streets, The Espresso Station is a modern spot known for its meticulously crafted drinks, including pour-over and cold-brew options. If you’re looking for a great espresso-based coffee with a twist, this is the place to be.

Embrace Hoi An's Coffee Culture

Coffee in Hoi An is more than just a beverage—it’s a gateway to experiencing Vietnamese culture, hospitality, and artistry. Whether you’re a coffee connoisseur or just looking for a refreshing pick-me-up, Hoi An’s coffee scene has something for everyone. So, next time you’re in town, take a coffee tour, try something new, and savor each sip. You’ll leave with a taste of Hoi An’s charm that lingers long after your trip ends.

Why Boys Over Flowers Is Still Worth the Watch

Featuring Lee Min-ho’s Iconic Hair and Hilarious Romantics?

You’ve probably heard of Boys Over Flowers if you've watched any K-dramas. This classic is the ultimate guilty pleasure—a whirlwind of romance, drama, and some truly unforgettable fashion choices. Wondering if it’s still worth watching in 2024? Absolutely. Here’s why:

1. The Iconic F4 Squad (aka The Original Heartthrobs)

Imagine a high school ruled by four of the richest, most handsome guys in Korea. That’s F4—led by none other than Lee Min-ho, who plays Gu Jun Pyo, the stubborn and spoiled leader with a wild mop of curly hair that he somehow pulls off. His three besties round out the squad, including the quiet and gentle Ji Hoo, who plays guitar and is always around for a dramatic rescue. Together, they’re both the heartthrobs and the headache of the school, and it’s hard not to love their ridiculous antics.

2. Geum Jan-di: The Relatable Heroine (and Master of Eye-Rolling)

Our leading lady, Jan-di, is a fish out of water at their ultra-elite school. She’s the tough, working-class girl who keeps crossing paths with Jun Pyo, and she’s not impressed with his money, his power, or his big hair. Her "whatever" attitude to his grand gestures and bratty behaviour is hilarious, and it’s refreshing to see someone stand up to him—even if that someone is often rolling her eyes while doing so. Jan-di has enough spunk and determination to take on the F4, and it's her spirit that keeps the story going.

3. The Rollercoaster Love Story: Will They? Won't They? OMG They Are!

Let’s talk about the romance. Lee Min-ho’s Jun Pyo starts out as a bully, then somehow decides he’s in love with Jan-di and pursues her with over-the-top, hilarious attempts at affection. Watching Jun Pyo try to woo Jan-di is like watching a toddler with a crush—it’s both adorable and a little cringe. Their love story is a rollercoaster of misunderstandings, sweet moments, and dramatic speeches, and half the fun is seeing just how extreme they’ll go for each other. Let’s just say you’ll be yelling, “Just kiss already!” a lot.

4. The Over-the-Top Drama: Because Nothing Is Simple Here

From helicopter rides to Jun Pyo’s evil mom, who tries to break them up in every possible way, Boys Over Flowers delivers on the drama. Jun Pyo’s life as a chaebol (rich family heir) is as dramatic as it sounds, and his mom’s only job seems to be trying to make Jan-di miserable. Every episode has some new twist that’s equal parts shocking and ridiculous, and yes, you’ll be totally hooked. And don’t even get me started on the classic K-drama airport scenes.

5. The Fashion Choices: A Tribute to Lee Min-ho’s Legendary Hair

One of the most iconic parts of Boys Over Flowers is the fashion, and Lee Min-ho’s hair deserves its own award. His character’s signature curly hairstyle made waves back then, and it’s honestly amazing that he managed to pull it off. Between his wild hair and some questionable sweaters, the whole F4 squad’s wardrobe is a blast from the early 2000s past. It’s hard to say if Jun Pyo’s stylist was a genius or just really committed to chaos, but either way, it’s a look that’s impossible to forget.

6. The Ultimate Comfort Drama

With all its quirks and tropes, Boys Over Flowers is the perfect comfort drama. The storyline doesn’t always make sense, but that makes it so much fun! From the unrealistic wealth of the F4 to their larger-than-life romantic gestures, it’s a beautiful escape that’ll keep you laughing, cringing, and rooting for the characters. And if anyone judges you for binge-watching it, just remind them that Lee Min-ho’s acting practically defined K-dramas as we know them today.

Final Thoughts

Boys Over Flowers is like that over-the-top friend who’s sometimes embarrassing but still hilarious. It’s a wild, nostalgic ride with unforgettable characters, cheesy plot twists, and, of course, Lee Min-ho in all his early K-drama glory. So go on, give it a watch—and prepare to get swept up in the chaos!

A Journey Through Time

Hoi An, a picturesque town in Vietnam, is renowned for its ancient architecture, embodying centuries of cultural exchanges, historical tales, and artistic details. Walking through Hoi An’s ancient streets feels like stepping into a well-preserved museum where traditional Vietnamese, Chinese, and Japanese architectural influences blend harmoniously. The old houses, adorned with intricate carvings, red-tile roofs, and wooden beams, reveal the stories of traders and settlers who left their mark on this historic town.

1. Vietnamese Heritage and Structure

At the heart of Hoi An’s ancient architecture lies traditional Vietnamese design principles. Homes are typically organized in a narrow, long rectangular layout, known as "tube houses," to optimize space in crowded areas. Built from local materials like bamboo and wood, these houses have a unique charm, balancing simplicity and sophistication with features such as airy courtyards, wooden shutters, and elevated roofs to withstand Vietnam’s tropical climate.

2. Chinese Influence in Decorative Details

Due to Hoi An's position as a major trading hub, many Chinese merchants settled in the town, leaving a strong cultural imprint. Chinese architecture is especially prominent in house interiors, where wooden altars, painted ceramics, and calligraphy scrolls adorn rooms. Traditional Chinese symbols, such as dragons and phoenixes, are often carved into pillars and doorways, believed to bring prosperity and protect against bad luck.

3. Japanese Covered Bridge and Design Aesthetics

The famous Japanese Covered Bridge stands as a testament to the Japanese influence in Hoi An. Built in the 17th century, it demonstrates Japanese architectural methods like simple, solid structures and curved tile roofs, offering aesthetic balance with minimal ornamentation. This style extended to nearby homes, where Japanese techniques merged with local materials, creating houses with balanced proportions and clean lines.

4. French Colonial Touches

During the French colonial period, Hoi An’s architecture began to adopt European influences, evident in the addition of arched windows, thick walls, and balconies. These features added a sense of grandeur and openness to the otherwise traditional structures. Stucco walls and iron railings still add a subtle elegance to Hoi An’s ancient town, where East meets West in a charming fusion.

5. Symbolism and Feng Shui Principles

Ancient Hoi An homes are built according to feng shui principles, ensuring that spaces are harmonized with nature and bring good fortune to residents. Main doors often face auspicious directions, while courtyards serve as “lungs” for homes, inviting natural light and air, which keeps the space cool and welcoming. Additionally, the balance of yin-yang elements can be seen in the harmony of open and enclosed areas, wood and stone structures, and light and shadow play within the spaces.

6. Cultural Preservation and Sustainability

Hoi An’s architectural preservation is not merely for aesthetics; it’s also a testament to sustainable practices. These ancient houses are designed to be energy-efficient with thick walls that regulate indoor temperatures, making them eco-friendly long before modern sustainability movements. UNESCO recognition has also helped to protect these structures, ensuring that Hoi An’s heritage remains a lasting cultural treasure.

The architecture of ancient Hoi An is a profound reflection of history, cultural synthesis, and artistry. Each house, street, and bridge tells a story of resilience, cultural exchange, and time-honoured tradition. Visiting Hoi An allows travelers to appreciate how architecture shapes not only a city’s appearance but also its soul. So next time you wander through Hoi An, take a moment to marvel at the timeless beauty of its ancient houses—true cultural gems that link past and present in every detail.

Nobel Prize in Literature 2024

Han Kang: A Literary Force Captivating the World through Trauma and Fragility

Congratulations to Han Kang, a South Korean writer, for winning the Nobel Prize in Literature 2024. The Nobel Prize website awarded her "for her intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life." Han is the first South Korean writer and female Asian writer to be awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature. She is best known for the novel The Vegetarian, which traces a woman's mental illness and neglect of her family. In 2016, it became the first Korean-language novel to win the International Booker Prize for fiction. The book placed 49th in The New York Times's "100 Best Books of the 21st Century" in July 2024.

In 2024, Han Kang, a prominent voice in South Korean literature, made history by becoming the first South Korean and Asian female author to win the prestigious Nobel Prize in Literature 2024. The Nobel Prize website celebrated her for her "intense poetic prose that confronts historical traumas and exposes the fragility of human life," a testament to her distinctive style that resonates deeply with readers worldwide. From her exploration of violence and mental illness in The Vegetarian to the emotional weight of historical trauma in Human Acts, Han Kang's works have captivated audiences with their rawness, empathy, and lyrical prose. This article delves into her most notable works and how they inspire readers and critics alike.

The Vegetarian: A Journey into Mental Illness and Repression

One of Han Kang’s most internationally recognized novels is The Vegetarian (2007), a haunting exploration of mental illness, family dynamics, and societal expectations. The novel tells the story of Yeong-hye, a woman who chooses to stop eating meat after experiencing vivid, violent dreams. Her decision spirals into a psychological breakdown, and as the narrative unfolds, readers witness the complex relationships between Yeong-hye, her husband, and her family, all of whom react to her choice with confusion, rejection, and indifference.

The brilliance of The Vegetarian lies not only in its gripping portrayal of mental illness but also in the way it addresses themes of control, autonomy, and societal repression. Yeong-hye’s decision to reject meat becomes a symbolic act of rebellion against the rigid norms that confine her. Yet, instead of being supported, she is met with neglect and emotional abuse from her family, highlighting the isolation and powerlessness of women in patriarchal societies.

The novel earned international acclaim and was the first Korean-language work to win the International Booker Prize 2016. In July 2024, the New York Times also placed The Vegetarian 49th in its "100 Best Books of the 21st Century" list, reflecting its enduring impact on global readers and further emphasizing the novel’s contribution to Korean fiction.

Human Acts: A Lyrical Tribute to the Gwangju Uprising

Another powerful and emotionally charged novel from Han Kang is Human Acts (2014), a harrowing account of the 1980 Gwangju Uprising in South Korea, where government forces brutally suppressed a student-led protest. Human Acts takes readers through the aftermath of this historical event by presenting multiple perspectives, including that of Dong-ho, a young boy who is killed in the crackdown. The novel interweaves the stories of those connected to Dong-ho—his friends, a grieving mother, and even the spirit of the boy himself—to create a profound meditation on violence, loss, and collective trauma.

What sets Human Acts apart is Han Kang’s ability to capture her characters' physical and emotional pain. Each chapter is told from a different character’s viewpoint, yet they are all bound by their connection to Dong-ho and the shared experience of the Gwangju tragedy. The novel doesn’t stop depicting the brutality of military repression, but it also emphasizes the resilience of the human spirit in the face of overwhelming suffering.

Through Human Acts, Han Kang masterfully conveys how the echoes of past violence continue to shape the present for individuals and an entire society. The novel reminds readers of the importance of confronting historical trauma rather than burying it—a theme that resonates strongly with her Nobel Prize in Literature 2024 recognition. Critics have praised Human Acts for its delicate balance of tenderness and brutality, reflecting the complexity of living through and remembering trauma.

The White Book: A Poetic Reflection on Life and Death

In The White Book (2016), Han Kang shifts her focus from overt political violence to a more introspective, poetic meditation on life, death, and grief. Inspired by the death of her older sister, who passed away shortly after birth, Han uses the book as a way to explore themes of mourning and the fragility of life. Unlike her earlier works, The White Book doesn’t follow a conventional narrative structure. Instead, it is a collection of vignettes and meditations on various “white” objects, such as snow, rice, and the swaddling clothes of a newborn, which serve as metaphors for purity, absence, and memory.

The novel’s minimalist style invites readers to reflect deeply on their own experiences of loss and longing. Through sparse yet evocative language, Han Kang explores the tension between life and death, presence and absence, and the way these dualities define the human experience. The White Book has been praised for its lyrical beauty and profound emotional resonance, further establishing Han Kang as an innovative and daring voice in South Korean literature.

The Fragility of Human Life: A Central Theme

Across her body of work, one of the central themes that Han Kang masterfully explores is the fragility of human life. Whether it’s the mental and emotional unravelling of a single individual, as in The Vegetarian, or the collective trauma of society, as depicted in Human Acts, Han’s writing forces readers to confront the delicate nature of existence. Her characters often grapple with the weight of historical and personal traumas that threaten to break them, yet they also find ways to endure.

In her Nobel acceptance speech, Han expressed her surprise at the recognition and shared that her work is driven by a desire to understand and empathize with the pain of others. This empathy is what has made her work so compelling to a global audience. She writes about trauma not just as an abstract concept but as an embodied experience—her characters feel the weight of their suffering physically, emotionally, and spiritually.

This unique approach to writing about trauma and the human condition has earned Han Kang a place among the most influential writers of our time. Her work challenges readers to reflect on their vulnerabilities and the larger societal forces shaping their lives. By doing so, she has created a space for healing and understanding through literature.

Han Kang's Global Impact

Since winning the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2024, Han Kang’s work has continued to reach new audiences around the world. Her novels have been translated into multiple languages, and her ability to blend historical reflection with deeply personal stories has resonated with readers across cultures. In addition to her novels, Han has also contributed essays and poetry that explore similar themes of human suffering, resilience, and the quest for meaning in a chaotic world.

Her influence extends beyond the literary world. In South Korea, she has become a cultural icon, inspiring other writers and artists to explore complex and often uncomfortable subjects in their work. Internationally, she has participated in various literary festivals and talks, sharing her insights on the role of literature in healing and confronting trauma.

Conclusion: A Legacy of Compassionate Prose

Han Kang’s body of work stands as a testament to the power of literature to confront history, trauma, and the fragility of the human condition. Her intense poetic prose, recognized by the Nobel Prize in Literature 2024, invites readers to engage deeply with the pain and beauty of life. Whether through the harrowing journey of The Vegetarian, the historical reflections of Human Acts, or the poetic grace of The White Book, Han Kang has proven to be a literary voice that transcends borders and speaks to the universal human experience.

As we grapple with modern life's complexities, Han’s works offer both a mirror and a balm, reminding us that while life may be fragile, it is also worth understanding, empathizing with, and, above all, preserving.

Jung Hae In

JUNG HAE IN ONCE SUFFERED FROM PANIC DISORDER, ISOLATING HIMSELF AT HOME DUE TO MALICIOUS COMMENTS

Recently, actor Jung Hae In opened up about the pressure he faced criticism during his appearance on "You Quiz on the Block."

He shared, "At the age of 31, I was still very young. So, when I encountered criticism, I felt like it was the only thing that existed in the world. Being someone who had to stand in front of the camera and be judged by the public was terrifying and made me anxious."

Jung Hae In admitted that reading all the criticisms at the time had a significant impact on his mental health: "There were moments when I didn’t want to leave the house, and I just wanted to live like a recluse. I felt like I was suffering from anxiety disorder and was very afraid of meeting people."

Now, Jung Hae In has a different perspective on his acting career. He stated, "I now understand that there are people who support me and those who don’t like me. If they already dislike me, what can I do? I’ve realized it’s impossible to be loved by everyone, so I’ve decided to give my best to those who love me."

A Woman is Most Beautiful When She Belongs to No One.

Song Hye Kyo epitomizes the saying, "A woman is most beautiful when she belongs to no one." After going through a marriage breakup, this beauty has almost levelled up in every aspect. Despite ageing, her face looks younger, her aura has risen, her career has soared, and prestigious awards have continuously come her way.

More importantly, Song is incredibly wealthy. Currently, the actress doesn’t need to do much, yet her net worth has increased by 110 billion VND, thanks to purchasing a building worth over 359 billion VND in 2021, which has risen to 470 billion VND.

In addition to intelligent real estate investments, Song Hye Kyo has increased her paychecks. She earned about 2.1 billion VND per episode when she was married, but the project right after her divorce paid her 3.7 billion.

She is also highly sought after for advertisements and luxury brand ambassadorships, from clothing to jewellery. In 2023, her income reached approximately 73 billion VND, and her estimated net worth has surpassed 700 billion VND.

Her personal Instagram account can earn her between 11 to 18 million VND per sponsored post. It’s clear that Song Hye Kyo is travelling the world more than working, which makes sense—such a stunning and financially independent woman doesn’t need to work herself to the bone.

The Timeless Charm of Vietnam’s Lantern Festivals

Girls in long dresses float conic hats with lighted candles

Vietnam is rich in cultural traditions, seamlessly blending ancient customs with modern life. Among its many celebrated festivals, one stands out for its enchanting beauty and magical ambience—the Lantern Festival. Whether exploring the ancient town of Hแป™i An or marvelling at the vibrant scenes along the Perfume River in Huแบฟ, these festivals are an unforgettable experience.

Magical Moments on the Rivers

Magical moments unfold as lanterns dance on Vietnam’s rivers, casting a soft glow across the water. As the sun sets and darkness envelops the sky, the rivers come to life with thousands of colourful lanterns, each carrying the hopes, dreams, and prayers of those who release them. These radiant vessels drift along the gentle currents, creating a mesmerizing scene where light and water become one. For many locals and visitors alike, releasing a lantern is a spiritual act, a moment of reflection, and a way to connect with the past, present, and future.

A Symbol of Hope and Luck

The Lantern Festival is not just a feast for the eyes—it is deeply symbolic. In Vietnamese culture, lanterns represent good fortune, happiness, and the guiding light through life’s journey. Families and friends gather to release lanterns, each with a personal wish or prayer written on it. As the lanterns float away, they symbolize the release of worries and the embrace of new opportunities.

Hแป™i An: A Lantern Wonderland

Hแป™i An, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, is perhaps the most famous place in Vietnam to experience the Lantern Festival. Every month, during the full moon, the streets of the ancient town are illuminated solely by lanterns. The electricity is switched off, and the city becomes a glowing wonderland. Tourists and locals alike wander through the lantern-lit streets, marvelling at the intricate designs and vibrant colours that adorn the town’s homes, shops, and temples.

Lantern Festivals Across Vietnam

While Hแป™i An is known for its monthly lantern displays, lantern festivals can be found across Vietnam. In Huแบฟ, the Perfume River becomes a sparkling pathway for lanterns during various traditional celebrations. Hanoi and Saigon also host their own versions of lantern festivals during the Mid-Autumn Festival, where children carry star-shaped lanterns. At the same time, parades, dragon dances, and festivities fill the streets.

A Night to Remember

Whether you witness the glowing rivers or participate in the lantern releases yourself, these festivals are filled with a sense of wonder and tranquillity. As lanterns drift into the distance, fading away with the current, the sense of unity and shared experience lingers long after the festival ends.

In Vietnam, the Lantern Festival is more than a visual spectacle—it’s a cultural experience that captures the nation's soul, bridging the past and future in a breathtaking moment.

Notes for Visiting Mรน Cang Chแบฃi in 2024

As there are fewer visitors this year, tourists heading to Mรน Cang Chแบฃi during this year's rice season have many accommodation and experience options. However, choosing suitable transportation to reach the rice-viewing spots is essential.

Mรน Cang Chแบฃi is entering the ripe rice season, with favourable weather, complete services, and fewer tourists than in previous years.

According to Giang A Chay, a tour guide in Mu Cang Chai, visitors started arriving on September 15 after a one-week pause due to the impact of Typhoon Yagi. At Mong Ngua and Mam Xoi hills, most visitors over the past week have been photographers from both Vietnam and abroad seeking to capture the golden season. More tourists, primarily travelling from Hanoi and northern provinces, tend to come during weekends.

“One of the advantages this year compared to previous years is that it's quieter, which allows for creating more beautiful photos,” said Giang A Chay.

Mu Cang Chแบฃi experienced rain over the weekend. “It rained at night, but during the day, it was sunny, so the tours were not affected,” A Chay said. However, he noted that some roads leading to rice-viewing points are dirt roads, making them slippery and difficult to travel.

Nguyen Trang, a visitor from Hanoi who travelled to Mu Cang Chแบฃi over the weekend (September 20-22), said that the weather at the destination alternated between rain and sun. Due to the rain from the previous day, travelling to the viewing spots the next day was quite challenging, as the dirt roads were muddy.

"There were a few minor landslides, but they were not significant. However, some sections required slower and more difficult travel," Trang mentioned.

On travel forums about Mu Cang Chai, local tourism experts advised visitors to “keep their original itinerary,” suggesting 3-4 days for the trip and to go with a “relaxed mindset,” as some difficult-to-reach spots may affect the overall experience. Northern tourists may not need to rush, as there will still be opportunities to see the golden rice fields over the next week or 10 days.

Paragliding Services

The event "Flying Over Scenic Landmarks – Golden Season 2024" runs from early September until the end of October. The paragliding launch point is at the top of Khau Pha Pass—one of northern Vietnam's four most incredible passes—at about 1,200 meters above sea level, overlooking the Lim Mong Valley. Paragliding hours are from 9 AM to 4 PM daily.

Paragliding prices: 2,190,000 VND per person (weekdays) and 2,590,000 VND per person (weekends).

Tourists will fly with a professional paragliding pilot. The flight lasts 10 to 25 minutes, depending on wind and weather conditions. Paragliding services will not operate on foggy days or when weather conditions are not safe.

Accommodation

Mรน Cang Chแบฃi still has many available rooms due to the reduced number of visitors. Tourists can easily find accommodation at homestays and guesthouses, with prices ranging from 300,000 VND to around 1.5 million VND per night. Resort prices start from 3 million VND per night.

Some recommendations include Song Lung Khung Long Homestay, Pu Nhu Homestay, Mu Cang Chai Ecolodge, Ngoc Chien Pearl, and Mu Cang Chai Ecohome.

Transportation

There are several transportation options in Mu Cang Chai. Visitors can drive their cars to points near the attractions and hire motorbike taxis for each segment. Tourists can also hire local motorbike taxis for a full day to visit popular spots. Renting a self-driven motorbike is recommended for those with experience and strong driving skills.

The cost of hiring a motorbike taxi for a full day is around 500,000 to 600,000 VND per person, with room for negotiation sometimes. The average price for a round trip to specific points, such as Mong Ngua Hill, Mam Xoi Hill, Song Lung Khung Long, and the bamboo forest, ranges from 100,000 to 150,000 VND.

Tourists should carry cash to pay for motorbike taxi services to the rice-viewing spots, as some drivers do not accept bank transfers.

Entrance fees to certain attractions range from 10,000 VND to 30,000 VND.

For travel from Hanoi to Mรน Cang Chai, in addition to personal vehicles, tourists can opt for buses departing from My Dinh Bus Station (Hanoi). The journey to Mรน Cang Chแบฃi takes approximately 8 hours.

Park Bom On The Stage In Vietnam

Park Bom performed on a stage in Vietnam

On the night of September 22, the fan concert event of 2NE1’s lead vocalist, Park Bom, titled “2024 Park Bom Special Fan Concert in Vietnam,” took place at Hรฒa Bรฌnh Theater, Ho Chi Minh City.

This concert was a special gift from Park Bom to her Vietnamese fans after 10 years since the famous group 2NE1 performed at Phรบ Thแป Stadium in 2014.

Earlier that afternoon, during a press conference, singer Park Bom encouraged young Vietnamese people who are passionate about music.

"I want to send this message to the young people of Vietnam: if you have a music dream, always stay determined and never give up on your dreams. That dream will surely come true if you never give up," the idol shared.

Park Bom enjoys eating pho, sweetly says ‘I love you’ to Vietnamese fans
During the event, Park Bom delighted fans with a series of hits associated with her name and 2NE1, such as "You and I," "Spring," "Don't Cry," and more.

Although the weather was unfavourable, the auditorium was nearly filled, showing the affection of Vietnamese fans for the singer.

In addition to the explosive musical moments, the 2NE1 member actively interacted and answered questions from Vietnamese fans.

When a fan asked her what Vietnamese dish she liked the most, Park Bom said, "I have tried Vietnam's pho and found it very delicious. I really like this dish."

The audience was not only excited by the performances but also “melted” by the idol's cuteness. In response to constant questions, the idol humorously “forgot her answers” multiple times and asked to “peek at her notes,” making fans laugh.

Fan concerts are always popular because they offer precious opportunities for fans to interact directly with their idols.

During the program, there were small contests like a "dance challenge" or impressive outfits, where lucky fans were selected to take individual photos with Park Bom.

Near the end of the event, the idol won more hearts by sweetly saying "I love you" in Vietnamese, which thrilled her fans. She also expressed her fondness for the country and promised to return to Vietnam when the opportunity arose.

The crowd erupted when the hit song “I Am The Best” played
Throughout the concert, Park Bom touched fans by frequently mentioning 2NE1. The iconic second-generation K-pop girl group had been inactive for a long time due to various challenges.

During the event, fans eagerly anticipated hearing Park Bom perform the "super hit" "I Am The Best" live, but that didn’t seem to happen.

However, this turned out to be a surprise gift for Vietnamese fans. After announcing the concert's conclusion and bidding farewell to the audience, Park Bom suddenly returned to the stage with "I Am The Best," causing the entire auditorium to erupt in excitement.

“When ‘I Am The Best’ started playing, I and everyone around me were overwhelmed with joy. I’ve followed 2NE1 since their debut, so when Park Bom returned to Vietnam, I was ecstatic,” Nguyแป…n Ngแปc Trรขm (30 years old) shared with Tuแป•i Trแบป Online after attending the concert.

Following her fan event in Ho Chi Minh City, Park Bom and other members of 2NE1 will reunite in October for a concert series in Seoul (South Korea), Tokyo, and Osaka (Japan).

Park Bom, born in 1984, began her music career in 2006 with multiple collaborations with other artists at YG Entertainment.

In 2009, she officially debuted as a member of 2NE1, a group famous for hits like "I Don’t Care," "Lonely," "Go Away," and "You and I."

After 2NE1 disbanded in 2016, Park Bom left YG Entertainment. In July 2018, she signed with D-Nation Entertainment and released her debut single, "Spring", in 2019, earning impressive achievements.

After the fan concert in Vietnam, Park Bom and her 2NE1 bandmates will prepare for a series of concerts in South Korea and Japan.
