BlackPink Won Billboard Awards in a Year of Controversy

The Billboard Awards ceremony took place on the evening of November 19 in the US (the morning of November 20, Vietnam time). Some of today's most prominent K-pop artists have won in K-pop-specific categories.

Specifically, Billboard added 4 nomination categories for K-pop this year, including Top Global K-pop Artist, Top K-pop Album, Top Global K-pop Song and Artist. 

The wins belonged to the group New Jeans, the album 5-STAR of the group Stray Kids, the song Seven by male singer Jungkook (featuring rapper Latto) and the group BlackPink.

Billboard honours K-pop, but it is not complete

However, this victory still needs to be completed when K-pop artists are classified separately into K-pop categories, even though some K-pop artists and music products have succeeded.

Over the past year, they appeared at a high position in Billboard's singles and album charts. They were nominated in general and essential categories at other international award, such as the MTV EMA (Music Awards). MTV Europe).

Also, in the Billboard Music Awards system, other categories are divided by music genres, such as R&B, rock, rap, country, and dance-electronic... and not by nationality or region like K-pop.
