“Thanks to Crash Landing on You, I gained so many international fans,” Son Ye Jin shared warmly. “I received letters from faraway places like Canada, Australia, and Brazil. That’s when I realized just how globally popular the show had become.”
She added with a smile, “And of course, Crash Landing on You will always be extra special because it’s where I met my life partner.”
When Did She Fall for Hyun Bin?
Intrigued, Jung Jae Hyung asked the question that fans have long wondered: “So, when exactly did you start feeling something for Hyun Bin? Was it during the skydiving scene?”
Son Ye Jin laughed and replied, “As actors, we always draw a clear line between work and personal life. While filming, I never thought, ‘Wow, Captain Ri is so cool.’ It was more like, ‘This character is wonderful.’”

She went on to explain that their connection deepened naturally through surprising similarities.
“We’re the same age, debuted around the same time, and we’re both the youngest in our families. It just felt very comfortable being around him.”
Before Crash Landing on You, the two actors had already worked together in the 2018 film The Negotiation. However, Son Ye Jin recalled that their interactions were limited at the time.
“In The Negotiation, we barely met because our scenes were filmed on different sets. We only got to talk during the movie’s promotional events,” she said. “That’s when I realized he was such a genuinely kind person — and I liked that about him.”
