Animals Asian Foundation calls for the termination of Buffalo Fighting Festival Do Son

Buffalo Fighting Festival

Mr David Neale, Animal Welfare Director at Animals Asian Foundation, sent a request to the Chair of Hai Phong City People's Committee to call for the termination of the Buffalo Fighting Festival Do Son. In his letter, he expresses his concern about the welfare of animals and the safety of a community.

Recently, a deadly accident happened in a buffalo fight where the owner of a buffalo was gored by his trained animal. It generated a wave of critics of international and domestic people against a violate game.

A Terrace Field in Yen Bai Province

One-time Grand Hotel, Saigon

Grand Hotel Saigon used to be a beverage shop in Saigon, Vietnam. Henry Edouard Charigny, who then was an editor-in-chief of a French newspaper, acquired an official licence on October 24, 1930, to establish a Grand Hotel Saigon Company. In 1937, its name changed Saigon Palace.

After 1975, it was restored and renamed its old Grand Hotel. Grand Hotel still retains French construction styles and belongs to Saigontourist Company, a Ho Chi Minh-based giant. It is a mediocre hotel.

Waterfall Dai Yem sits in Moc Chau District, Son La Province. It is a historical scene that sticks to the ethnic minority people Thai. The Dai Yem is derived from a story where a girl saved a boy with her brassiere.

At the end of October and the beginning of November, the rainy season comes to an end and the winter is coming, the waterfall is still rushing down through the canopy of dense old trees.

Due to difficulties in economics, a large number of young people have to leave their homeland for cities of hustle and bustle to earn their livelihood. In a course of livelihood, some make a success but lots of others fall into traps of social evils.

Typhoon Damrey hit the central Vietnam

Typhoon Damrey tore the central Vietnam just a few days before the APEC Summit that took place in Danang City. Death toll top 60. 2,000 homes had been collapsed and 8000 ones had been damaged.

Streets that were flooded or washed away caused traffic congestion. Ancient Town Hoi An was severely flooded that cancelled the schedule of visit of APEC leaders' spouses.

Recently, Typhoon Damrey is the strongest one that made landfall in Vietnam and left a toll of at least 40 with hundreds of homeless people. The severe sufferings the inhabitants have incurred due to weak weather forecasting of the local people. With out-of-date forecasting equipment, the government can't help the residents prepare themselves for a natural calamity.

Typhoon Damrey just hit Hoi An Ancient Town. Rising floodwaters accompanied by heavy rains caused many streets in Hoi An to be severely inundated.
