Mu Cang Chay, Yen Bai Province
Mu Cang Chay is a rural district of Yen Bai Province, in the northeast region of Vietnam.Rice terraced fields here are recognised national landscapes by the local government. It is very poor and primitive but rich in natural beauty.
In recent years, Mu Cang Chay has been one of impressive and popular tours in international tourists' trip to the North of Vietnam, particularly, in the crop harvest begining the 1st to 10th of October.
Road leading to rice terraced fields is bad, rough, and risky. You have two choices to go there. One is to take motobike and pay a driver around US$ 2. The other is to go on foot.
It is difficult to forecast the weather in a day. Normally, it's rainy at night, foggy in the early morning and sun shinning in the morning.
You should not go to rice terraced field evening as it is risky due to darkness or motobike breaks down.
Tourism in Mu Cang Chay has not been developed yet. There are only rest houses and homestay in this area. Price for rest house is US$ 15 - 20 per day and homestay US$3 - 5.
